A Day of Connection to the Heart of Zen

Kamakura, Japan – Zen2.0, the world’s largest international conference on Zen and mindfulness, today announced the first annual “Open Zen” Experience, a global grassroots event for English-speaking communities. This inaugural event will bring together Zen masters, artists and writers to showcase the “Open Zen” experience for international participants. The venue will be Engakuji Temple, a historic and active Zen temple founded in 1282.

“We are so delighted to hold this all-English event at the historical Engakuji with the venerable Nanrei Yokota Roshi,” said Kouji Miki, co-founder of Zen2.0.  “It has been our intention at Zen2.0 to communicate ancient Japanese wisdom globally, and we provide real-time interpretation in English for all sessions starting from Day One.  The new in-person, all-English event on Sunday is a first step to welcome many English speakers to join our community.”

The “Open Zen” Experience will foster a sense of belonging and create a welcoming environment through contemporary interpretations of traditional Zen practices.  With a focus on mindfulness, meta-cognition, and compassionate harmony, this event aims to unite a global community, attracting individuals and organizations to Zen2.0.  Unlike the traditionally segmented Zen approach, Zen2.0 emphasizes fluidity, accessibility, and heartfelt connection, fostering a greater sense of oneness and well-being.
