Takashi Ikegami

Professor, Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies, University of Tokyo

Dr. Riyo (The University of Tokyo, Physics, 1989). After working at KiRI, Kyoto University, and Kobe University, he has been an Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo since 1994. He specializes in the science of complex systems and artificial life.
In 2018, he organized the ALIFE International Conference. He has given many keynote lectures at Conf. Complex Systems in 2020, SWARM International Conference in 2019, and others. Author of,
Motion Makes Life (Seidosha 2007), Between Human and Machine (co-authored, Kodansha, 2016), and Making and Moving ALIFE (co-authored, O'Reilly Japan, 2018).
His artistic activities include Filmachine (with Keiichiro Shibuya, YCAM 2006), MindTime Machine (YCAM, 2010), Scary Beauty (with Keiichiro Shibuya, 2018), Puppet Kagura (2020), and Alternative Machine. SnowCrash (WhiteHouse 2021), VR ReverseDestiny Bridge (Aichi 2022), Shell of Time (with Un Yamada, Nahart 2022), IDEA (with Keiichiro Shibuya, 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art Kanazawa 2023).
